CLUB SOCIAL

On May 19, 2022 The Social Club and Stas are having a Churros day for employees on the second floor at the ADM break room from 9:00-20:00 and Saturday, May 21,  will be little sweetness in the room from the union close to TB on the second floor.

FIRST MEETING
On May 16-17 and 18, the first official negotiation meetings took place between STAS and the negotiation committee. STAS gave their negotiation book and the negotiation committee is asking for clarifications of their demands. A letter from Dominic Lemieux, director Quebec section with the Steelworkers has circulated in the media to present a real picture of our difficult situation to the public. The two parties will meet again at the negotiation table on June 14-15-16.

ORGANIZING

New Delegates Required “Homemade” Training

Since March, more than 25 new delegates have been trained thanks to a new “homemade”training. The classconsists of concentrated information to become a delegate in the airport. It is focused, quick and reliable. There is always a need for new delegates. If you are interested in making positive changes in your work environment, join us!

Summer schedules

The scheduling committee had 2 to 3 meetings per department regarding the summer schedules. TB, ID, NPSV, NPST and HBS gave their suggestions to STAS. The scheduling committee did their possible for the employer to listen to what the members want. The new schedule will begin June 3rd 2022.

Grievance Update

The grievance committee followed up on existing grievances. The committee is working on a new way to facilitate communication between members and their files.

Workplace accident reminder

Please take note that when you injure yourself at work, it is imperative that a health and safety delegate be present at all times with you. This delegate will support you in the writing of your CNESST report as well as the steps following your withdrawal from work. The delegate will follow up about the events. If you are alone with the SSM, wait for the arrival of the health and safety delegate who will take control of the situation.

May 26th Assembly

 

A general assembly was held May 26th regarding the modification of the local section’s rules as well as for the gifts from the social club. Of the 75 members who expressed their opinions, 46 voted in favour of the modification of the rules. As for the gifts from the social club, 46 members voted to adopt the idea of gift cards for everyone instead of the usual draw.

Peter Serfas was present to explain the rules in the name of the executive committee. Marcel Fadel was the guard for the assembly and Jonathan Hachey temporarily replaced Luc Lafontaine as archival secretary for the day.

Sophie Asselin, Carmelina Casadei and Michelle Desy were the designated scrutineers for this assembly.
